The Routes

New for 2023 is a relocated 6-mile route and an e-bike challenge! The 6-mile route is designed for beginners, children and families. We’ve also added a 36-mile e-bike route for those that are e-inclined. As in previous years, the Challenge includes 16, 26, and the classic 52 miles up to the hardest 66.6-mi route for those that need a little more punishment. Pick your challenge for 2023, or complete all of them!

  • 6 Mile Option - This segment consists of two 3.1 mile loops. Ride them clockwise. You can ride the first 3.1 segment twice for an easy pedal with the kids, or ride both segments once. The second contains a few blue trails, but is still a nice pedal. This is a great beginner or kids' ride (Trailforks route:  Prescott Trails Challenge - 6 miles).

  • 16 Mile Option - Designed to challenge intermediate-level riders, this  singletrack course starts in Spence Basin and showcases some iconic Granite Basin trails, including the infamous “Mint Wash”. (Trailforks route:  Prescott Trails Challenge - 16 miles)

  • 26 Mile Option -Ride any 26-mile section of the Prescott Circle Trail to complete this course. This is a great option for those who want a stepping stone to the full Prescott Circle Trail, or for those who just want to ride their favorite sections. This challenge requires intermediate-level skills, and the ability to spend a few hours pedaling on the bike. Refer to the resources below and select the 26 mile segment you would like to ride.

  • 36 Mile E-Bike Option- Designed for those that are e-inclined. This route is 36 miles.  Trails involved are Peavine, Headwaters, Iron King, Sundog, Badger and Ranch-Badger connector.  The last 2 trails in that list are from approx. mile 14 to 26 and do not have access to support.  Water and bathrooms are available at the South Peavine trailhead (mile 9 outbound and 30 returning) by the humane society.  This is an intermediate class ride.  There are some steep short climbs and long gradual climbs and descents.  No intense technical rock sections. • 56 Mile Option- The classic route! Scroll below.

  • 66.6 Mile Option - This is an all-day adventure course, and is for those who like to suffer on the bike. There's a refueling stop, which you will need. There are nearly 8,000 ft of climbing, and you'll earn some fantastic views while riding on some of Prescott's best, and lesser-known, singletrack gems. The 56-Mile Route

The Prescott Circle Trail is a 56-mile iconic singletrack loop trail encircling Prescott, Ariz. The route climbs--and descends--through shaded Ponderosa forests, high desert chapparal, grasslands, and the famous Granite Dells. To tackle the challenge, you'll need a trail-capable bike, some pedaling fitness, and an adventurous attitude. The trail is best enjoyed with friends and with plenty of snack breaks. Make it a weekend in Prescott and spend the day after your ride relaxing--and enjoy the local cuisine--in Prescott's downtown courthouse square. After finishing the Prescott Circle Trail, you've earned a bit of fun! (Trailforks route: Prescott Trails Challenge- 56.4 miles)
